 Patricia Illera began her study of music at a young age with guitar lessons at a conservatory. Later on, her experience as a member of the Madrid Children’s Choir (Coro de Niños de la Comunidad de Madrid) sparked her interest in vocal studies. As part of this group, she had many opportunities to perform as a soloist. After completing her B.A. in Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), Patricia pursued a B.A. in Voice Performance at the Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid, where she studied with soprano Sara Matarranz and vocal coach Jorge Robaina. Through this program, Patricia had the opportunity to play the roles of “Paloma” in Barbieri’s El Barberillo de Lavapiés and “Gertrud” in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel. During this time, she also held the position of soprano section leader in the Madrid Youth Choir (JORCAM), performing as a soloist on multiple occasions.



 Patricia has been the recipient of many scholarships, which have allowed her to participate in Young Artists Pr ograms alongside professional singers, including Santiago Calderón, Lola Bosom, Nicola Beller, Francesca Roig, Carlos Chausson,Yolanda Auyanet, Richard A. Raub, Nicola Beller, Alessandra Althoff, Ana María Sánchez, and Ileana Cotrubas. As part of these programs, she also received training from acclaimed vocal coaches, including Giulio Zappa, Borja Mariño, Miquel Ortega, Ricardo Francia, and Alberto Malazzi.

 Patricia has worked with many renowned conductors, including José Ramón Encinar, Arthur Fagen, Pablo Mielgo, Sir Neville Marriner, Miguel Roa, Ricardo Casero and Manuel Coves; and with numerous directors, including Paul Curran, Paco Mir, Albert Boadella, Juan Carlos Pérez de la Fuente and Paul-Émile Fourny. She has also performed in several prestigious theaters in Spain, including the Ateneo de Madrid, the Auditorio Nacional de Música (National Auditorium of Music), and the Teatros del Canal, as well as in the Wiener Saal theater in Salzburg, Austria.

 Patricia is currently completing her Master of Music degree at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University Bloomington. During her time at IU, she has had the pleasure of studying under renowned soprano Carol Vaness and working alongside Kevin Murphy, Walter Huff, Arthur Fagen and Gary Arvin, among others. In 2016, she played the title role in IU’s production of Bizet’s Carmen, under the direction of David Effron and Jeffrey Marc Buchman.
