Her strong passion and warm interpretation draws the attention of the audience with such famous arias as Habanera and Séguidille…”

   Patricia Illera studied singing to the highest grade at Madrid’s Higher School of Singing (ESCM), and medicine at the UAM. After finishing both disciplines, she was awarded a scholarship by Indiana University in the States to join the prestigious Master’s in Opera at Jacobs School of Music under the guidance of the renowned American soprano Carol Vaness and accompanists and conductors Kevin Murphy, Walter Huff and Arthur Fagen. Under the auspices of the university’s opera studio, she participated in several projects for the U.S. stage, including Carmen in bizet`s opera, Anna Gómez in The Consul, The Film Music of Alberto Ginastera, A Journey with Alfonsina and the charity project ROK, specializing in opera set-ups for kids.

   She debuted as Paloma in El Barberillo de Lavapiés and Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel at the ESCM, has played the role of Carmen in the United States, Italy and Spain, Luisa Fernanda at the Festival Lírico Ópera of Benicàssim; Sirena from Circe  in the Teatro de la Zarzuela; Lola from Cavalleria Rusticana; Dido in Dido and Aeneas… and has sung, as a soloist, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Händel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, El amor brujo by Falla, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Beethoven’s 9th symphony among many others.

 

      She has been awarded in the II International Opera & Zarzuela Competition Opus Lírica- 2023 with two contracts: a role in Eduard Von Winterstein Theater (Germany) and a concert at Victoria Eugenia Theater (Spain); first prize at the 8th Singing Contest in Estepona CREA 2022, as well as by the AIE (Spanish Society of Performers), Madrid’s Opera Association, InCanto Tignano, the 1st International Singing Contest of Lyrical Singing in Alcalá de Henares, IU. JSoM - USA, Talent Opera and Music Festival of Brescia, the JORCAM Académica, the Operastudio of Alcalá and the Musica Riva Festival.
